Auto Paint Gun

Buying an auto paint gun can be very confusing if you don’t know what to look for. Before you make a purchase, you need to know the difference in the features, the best way to use it and what to expect from the results. You also need to consider what you are saving by buying a paint gun for your home use. You can save money not only on your own paint job but by doing touch up work for family and friends. The savings from the first paint job alone may be enough to recoup your costs.

Your purchase should be a high volume, low pressure spray gun. Simply put, it holds a substantial amount of paint so you don’t have to keep refilling it and uses a lower level of pressure, which can make it that much safer to use. The more pressure that your spray gun uses, the more fumes and blowback you create. Those fumes are dangerous to not only your own health but for the environment as well.

You can choose either a gravity feed or siphon feed sprayer. The difference between the two is where the paint is stored in the gun- for the gravity feed spray gun, the paint is stored above the nozzle, while with the siphon feed, the paint is stored below. The gravity feed nozzle does have an advantage in making sure that all of the paint is used and allowing you to see when the paint supply is getting low. That way you don’t run the risk of running out of paint during the process.

You will also have to buy other items to use with your spray gun, including tips and an air compressor. Make sure that the air compressor is rated as compatible with your spray gun or it will not work correctly. The tips that you put on your spray gun will depend on the type of paint that you are using. The thicker or heavier the type of paint that you are using, the larger the tips will need to be. For instance, clear coat paint is the lightest that you can use and will be okay with the smallest tip. A primer is at the opposite end of the spectrum and will need a larger tip.

Now that you have bought all of the equipment that you need, you will be ready to paint your first vehicle, right? Before you actually go to spray paint on your car, truck or other type of vehicle, it is necessary to practice with the auto paint gun so that you know what you are doing and how to do it well.
